The 24th Conference for Young Researchers into the Great Migration Period was held from the 4th to the 6th of November 2014 in Esztergom, organized through cooperation between the Archaeology Department of Pázmány Péter Catholic University and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Research Centre for the Humanities Department of Prehistory. This meeting of scholars was an outstanding event for Hungarian research into the periods of the Great Migrations and the Conquest of the Carpathian Basin, which also had its highest number yet of foreign experts participating. In 2015 a volume of conference’s presentations and further essays related to the period were published as a book. The conference book is comprised of a total of 69 papers combining the work of 113 authors, including 15 foreign colleagues. The 31 essays in the first volume contain work stretching from the Sarmatian Period to the Late Avar Period, while the second volume, which is expected to be published by June, will include essays related to Hungarian prehistory and the Conquest Period, as well as the Árpád Period. Amongst the papers in the publication there are basic essays and numerous elaborations on object typology, as well as summaries of settlement and town history. In addition to publishing detailed databases, perhaps the most prominent part of the endeavor are the numerous essays that present the processing of archaeometric, bio-archaeological and scientific data. The two full-color volumes are being issued through the careful editorship and publication of the Archaeolingua Foundation on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the outstanding Hungarian archaeologist Károly Mesterházy.
